What every graduate needs to know about Commencement


Commencement Rehearsal

Tuesday, May 22nd from 1:15PM - 3:00pm in Linganore Hall (Building "L").

Rehearsal is not mandatory but strongly encouraged. Graduates do not need to wear their

caps & gowns to rehearsal.

 

Commencement Ceremony

Thursday, May 24th at 6:00pm- Athletics Center (Building "D")

Allow plenty of time for travel and parking. Traffic will be very congested on Opossumtown Pike.

Check-in with an Attendent at Linganore Hall. You must be in-line and ready to march by 5:45PM.

Please leave valuables (purses, cell phones, etc.) behind. They may not be carried during the ceremony.

 

Commencement Attire

To remove wrinkles from your gown, hang it as soon as you get it home. Do not iron your gown, steam it if necessary.

Wear dress or business casual attire under your gown.

Members of PTK can wear their stoles at Commencement over their regalia.

Veterans/Reservists/National Guard and Active Military Duty graduates should request the Military cord

from Veteran's services (A-109).

Graduates may decorate their mortarboard (no offensive language or depictions will be permitted).

A professional photographer will take a photo of you as you receive your diploma.

 

Guests at the Commencement Ceremony

The Athletics Center opens for guests at 5:15pm

Bags will be subject to inspection before entering the Athletics Center

General Seating is on the Wooden Bleachers in the Gymnasium

Tickets are required for entry into the Athletic Center, even for Children

Strollers are not permitted in the gym and must be left in the designated area located inside the Athletics Center

Extra tickets are not available at the door

Please remind your guests that traffic on Opossumtown Pike will be heavy and

that there is NO admittance to the Athletics Center once full seating capacity has been reached.

Overflow seating is available in the Visual & Performing Arts Center (Building F) and is most

comfortable for older guests or those with special accommodation needs.
